It still may be pretty warm on the Front Range of Colorado, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be preparing for the upcoming ski and snowboard season. In Colorado, temperatures can change quickly and one season can be ushered in well before its time.

The announcement of the opening dates of six ski areas in Colorado is all the more reason to get your gear ready to hit the slopes. According to KDVR, Keystone will be the first Vail Resorts location to open sometime in October.

The following ski resorts have set an opening date:

  • Breckenridge - November 11
  • Vail Mountain - November 11
  • Beaver Creek - November 23
  • Crested Butte - November 23
  • Steamboat - November 23
  • Telluride - November 24

Other ski areas such as Aspen-Snowmass, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, Winter Park, and Wolf Creek all do not have opening dates set as of yet.

Does the news of the opening dates for some Colorado ski areas get you pumped for winter? I have quite a few friends who live for the colder weather and if given the opportunity, they would probably camp on the slopes all season long if they could.
