We are only one month into winter and getting outdoors for a walk is not always likely, unless you like being bundled up in many layers of clothing. Even my little dog Deuce seems like he has cabin fever. I miss walking past my neighbors and saying hello. Living on the Western Slope, it's such an outdoor haven.

Since the first week I moved here, I couldn't get enough of Riverbottom Sports park. That's the first park I checked out, mainly because you could walk in many directions with so many trails to choose from. It's fun watching people kayak in the fast-moving waters. It's also so relaxing to stand on the bridge and just take in the fresh mountain air. Now I do notice most are wearing wetsuits, as the water is a quite chilly year round.

During the Summer months, while the Montrose Music Series is going on, my husband and I will park at Riverbottm Sports park and take the trail and path to The Montrose Ampitheater at Cerise Park, another great park to walk around. That is a great way to get some exercise as well. I know there are many, but make sure to check out my two favorites.

Western Colorado's Best Hikes: The Grand Mesa's Trail to Lost Lake

Each year, hikers in western Colorado have to wait until at least June to be able to visit the Mesa Lakes trail on the Grand Mesa. After checking on it a couple of different times this spring, we are happy to say that the snowmelt is mostly finished and you can now hike the trail to Lost Lake.
