Iconic Colorado Bar/Restaurant Closes After 20 Years

It's one thing to learn about a closing around town you have no emotional attachment to. I've written about many places with which I've had no real personal experience and just had to relay the experience through the words of those who had. When you lose a place you've had personal experiences at, and some legit core memories were made, it's certainly tougher. Why so many popular places that we love continue to go out of business, especially at the rate we've seen in 2022 and again in 2023, will always make us wonder. Sadly, another very popular local bar/restaurant announced that it will be closing up shop for good within the next few weeks.

Blake Street Tavern In Denver, Colorado Is Closing Permanently

After opening in 2003 and being a favorite stop for many heading to or from a Colorado Rockies game at Coors Field, the award-winning Blake Street Tavern announced this past weekend that it will be closing up shop on April 9th. The date will give them one last homestand for Rockies fans to enjoy the iconic bar and restaurant one last time. They posted the following on their official Facebook page.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the official closing of Blake Street Tavern on April 9th. We appreciate everything the community has done for us over the last 20 years, we could never have done it without you guys. The relationships that have been built will be lifelong, and we hope that Denver can keep a piece of Blake Street in their hearts. We are grateful for all of the positive outreach"

An official reason for closing down hasn't publically been announced just yet, but the state of Downtown Denver in general seems to have more and more people moving on from their local locations in the area. We've seen the TJ Maxx and McDonald's locations both announce closures earlier this year after decades on the 16 Street Mall. Now we add another iconic brand to the list.

Among many great memories made there, I'll never forget watching the Rockies sweep the Diamondbacks to win their first National League Pennant and moving on to the world series with my pal Fizz. That place exploded! What a night! Thank you to the staff of Blake street tavern for many years of fun that we'll never forget. Cheers.
