An incident that took place at a gas station in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, could have resulted in not only loss of property, but loss of lives, if it wasn’t for an employee’s quick thinking and action.

What Happened at the Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Gas Station?

On Saturday, September 13, 2025, Trever Wooldridge was working at the Conoco gas station at 3006 South Glen Avenue in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, when he noticed that a vehicle parked at one of the pumps had smoke barreling from its engine compartment.

The blue Chevrolet belonged to an elderly man who, upon returning to his vehicle after going into the store, appeared confused about what to do about the smoke.

After entering and then exiting his vehicle, the man began to inspect the smoke, at which point flames appeared while the car’s hood was still secured.

At this point, Wooldridge is shown on the store’s surveillance video rushing to the now-flaming vehicle with a fire extinguisher, which he and a bystander used to put out the fire. Wooldridge is then seen putting the car into neutral, exiting the vehicle, and pushing the car away from the pumps while the bystander continued to extinguish the flames.

Colorado Gas Station Employee Recognized for His Efforts

Almost two months after Wooldridge and the bystander likely saved not only property, but lives, with their heroic actions, Glenwood Springs Mayor Marco Dehm released a proclamation recognizing Wooldridge.

The proclamation, which was released on November 6, 2025, stated the following:

I, Marco Dehm, Mayor of Glenwood Springs in the State of Colorado, do hereby recognize and express our sincere appreciation to Trever Wooldridge for his heroic deed in service to our community.
