The race to be the first ski resort to open in Colorado has come to an early finish. One ski resort will be opening this week.

Wolf Creek Ski Area just outside of Pagosa Springs has enough snow to open thanks to the recent snowstorm that blew through Colorado this past weekend.

When Will Colorado's Wolf Creek Ski Area Open?

Wolf Creek will open for the season on Tuesday, October 22 with their lifts turning from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

They will have three lifts running, Bonanza, Treasure, and Nova, with about 30% of their terrain open to make some saucy turns.

Wolf Creek is also celebrating their 85th season. If you wear red and gold, you'll receive an 85th-anniversary sticker. Plus, they'll have events and activities throughout the season to celebrate their longevity.

If you're a skier or snowboarder in Colorado, you're always waiting for that first resort to open so you can take your turn on the white ribbon of death.

According to On the Snow, Keystone is shooting to open before Halloween on October 25.

A-Base, Breck and Copper area ll shooting to open the first week of November.
