Why Is The Sundance In Fort Collins Closing?
In its statement on their Facebook post, the Sundance said:
Sundance Steakhouse & Saloon does not own the building or property at which all the amazing memories and stories were created. Like many other businesses, we lease the property. That lease expires very soon and despite our best efforts we were not able to come to a fair agreement with the property owners to ensure appropriate renovations were completed to extend our lease.
They went on to say that the Sundance will close permanently at midnight on Friday, July 26th. Full post below...

Thanks for the memories. My dad used to take each one of us 3 girls on a daddy/daughter date once a month when we were growing up. This was always where I chose to go! I'm sure my dad wasn't thrilled that I was making him come line dance with me, but he did it with a smile on his face. Literally one of my fondest childhood memories from 25-30 years ago - Bethany
The end of an era. I worked there and in that time I met my best friends there. I met my husband there. Went to birthday celebrations, rehearsal dinners, and graduation parties there. Even my wedding reception was there. It had changed a lot since those times but I never thought it wouldn’t still be there. - Brandi
Shame on the Property owners! To easily let go of an iconic place. My hats off and I bend the knee to the owners of Sundance for all they have done and tried to fight the good fight for the company and community! - Andrea
So sad to hear this. Dallas Horton, my father in law, owned this for several years. He turned it into the steakhouse and marketed dry aged beef. We had many a fun night and many celebrations there. Our wedding reception was there 31 years ago this week- it's still talked about amongst our friends as an awesome party! Cheers to the years and fun at the Sundance! - Kristin
Oh man I am devastated about this! I am from the U.K. and every time I visit fort Collins we go to the sundance so that has been many many times I just love it there! So much fun has been had! I really hope you guys relocate instead of closing down completely - Britt
I too have many fond memories of the Sundance. The radio station I've worked for hosted many events there over the last 20 years that I've been in Northern Colorado, and I've closed that place down more times than I'll probably ever remember.
To the Sundance staff and ownership, we'd like to say thank you. It's been a hell of a ride, and we hope to be a part of whatever you do next. Based on the reaction, there's clearly a demand for it. Cheers to the next Chapter!
