Major Fort Collins Road to Close for 3 Days in June
Traffic in Fort Collins, Colorado, just seems to get busier and busier as the years go by. Between population growth and CSU enrollment growth, Prospect & College see tens of thousands of cars, every day.
3 Day Full Closure of Prospect West of College Coming in Early June
If you've ever traveled along Prospect, near College, you've gone over the railroad tracks just east of Mason, a lot. For three days in June of 2025, there won't be any cars crossing those tracks.
The City of Fort Collins along with BNSF Railway will be replacing that railroad crossing from Tuesday, June 3rd through Thursday, June 5, 2025. This won't a "just at night" closure, they'll be working on this 24/7 for those three days.

While access to all the businesses in that area, like Music City Hot Chicken, will be available, they're bound to take at least a little "hit" for those three days. Maybe we should make plans to go through the effort of getting to them for those days, and help them out.
What Will be the Detours For the Prospect Closure?
- Eastbound Traffic on Prospect: All traffic heading east on Prospect will be detoured onto South Shields Street toward either Mulberry Street or Drake Road; traffic on Prospect between Shields and the work area should be local traffic only.
- Westbound Traffic on Prospect: All traffic heading west on Prospect will be detoured onto College Avenue toward either Mulberry Street or Drake Road.
- Prospect will be fully closed between College and the work area.
- The MAX: The MAX bus service will remain unaffected during the closure, and continue to use the signaled MAX crossing at Prospect during the work.
It'll be a headache for a few days, that's for sure; but, hopefully, they won't have to replace that crossing again for a very long time.
