Longtime Colorado News Anchor Says Goodbye to TV on Thursday

After nearly 40 years on the air in Denver, Colorado, a beloved and well-known TV news anchor will set off into the "retirement sunset" after she signs off on Thursday.

Though she's careful not to use the word "retirement" exactly - she prefers the terminology "next chapter, allowing flexibility to pursue new passions and time with family."

She has been a fixture on Denver TV since 1984, when she first popped on Colorado screens as a general assignment reporter. Since then, she's anchored the 5 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm newscasts for more than half of our lives. She's spent her entire time in Denver on the air at KMGH-TV, a somewhat rare feat for many Denver media personalities who have jumped between the various broadcast TV stations over their time in the market.

Denver7's Anne Trujillo announced her departure from the station in August, and community leaders, colleagues, and more have been paying tribute to her and her Denver media legacy ever since.

In her time on the air in Denver, she's won Emmy awards and covered numerous huge Colorado stories like being on the first flight into Denver International Airport when it opened in 1995, in addition to all of the biggest stories over the last nearly 40 years.

One notable event stands out: meeting a co-worker on her first day on the job, who turned out to be her future husband. Mike was a photographer at the station the day she started, and now, all these years later, they get to spend some well-earned time together without the news - just with each other, their kids, and grandkids - as she signs off the air for the last time.
