A company that prides itself of "life changing innovation" is set to change the lives of over 200 Coloradans, with layoffs that begin soon.

A worldwide health company, Carestream, will be dropping it's Colorado location, and over 200 personnel working there will be looking for new employment. The location has been a part of the imaging industry for many decades.

Not everyone in Colorado may know about Windsor's history as being a part of the giant Kodak company. Based out of Rochester, Kodak came and opened a huge campus on the east side of Windsor, in the late 1960's.

How Many People Used to Work at Kodak in Windsor?

At one point, over 20,000 were employed in some fashion, at the Kodak Windsor campus. Those who have lived in the area for a long time, know of friend or family member that worked for Kodak, back in the day.

Due to technology shifts, and perhaps not adapting to those technology changes, Kodak began losing ground.

What Happened to Kodak?

Eventually, in 2013, the company sold the Windsor facility to Kodak Alaris, which was their biggest creditor at the time, according to Democrat & Chronicle.

Who is Carestream?

Technically, Carestream is a descendent of Kodak. Kodak had Kodak Health Group, which was sold to Onex in 2007; with that, Kodak Health Group became Carestream.

When Will Carestream Begin Laying Off Windsor Workers?

According to the Reporter-Herald, notifications of the layoffs went out in November of 2023, and they plan on starting the closure process in April of 2024.

By the end of summer in 2024, the plant will be closed, with only a few staffers left with the company.
