When it comes to Colorado, we have a lot of great places to take visitors from out of state. There is a little bit of everything for everyone in the state of Colorado. Rocky Mountain National Park for nature lovers, Red Rocks for the die-hard concert fans, Mile High Stadium for sports fanatics, and world-class breweries for craft beer aficionados.

Touristy spots in Colorado are plentiful. While we do have some great spots to make great memories, there can be a few places that just seem like they could be a waste of money. Before Casa Bonita was temporarily closed, I had heard people say that it is a waste of time and money. Needless to say, I scoffed at that statement. Casa Bonita is and always will be a true Colorado treasure.

Is This Colorado Tourist Attraction A Waste of Money?

Go Banking Rates recently put out a list of tourist attractions in every state that are a waste of money. According to Go Banking Rates, the biggest waste of money tourist attraction in Colorado is the Four Corners Monument.

It takes quite a while to get there, with no accommodations, and the nearest gas station, according to the official park site, is 30 miles away.

 

Due to the long wait times, lack of electricity and water, and park closures due to inclement weather, it may take quite a while to arrive, wait, and take a coveted picture, which ends the experience after the first few clicks.

Four Corners Monument in Colorado

The Four Corners Monument is the only area in the United States where you can stand in four states at one time. Those states include Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado. The entry fee is $8 per person paid either in advance or in person. The Four Corners Monument page states that visitors should be well-prepared for inclement weather and long wait times.

With an entry fee of $8 per person, can you really justify the time it takes to commute to the monument, pay the entry fee, and stand in four states at one time? Only you can make that justification on your Colorado road trip.
