The Best Apps That Can Actually Save You Money

Living in Northern Colorado in 2026, things are expensive. I don't have to tell you that, and you don't have to tell me. Groceries, gas, air. It's all just too much.

Have you ever tried using apps? This isn't an ad of any kind, just something I'm figuring out.

So let's take a look at some apps that will save you some serious cash. Again, not an ad.

Rakuten 

I saw this app on social media, so I'm sure it's kosher. Apparently, shopping can earn you money, which I've dreamt of my entire life. Just find the store you want to buy from in the app. Shop and get a percentage back.

The percentage is low, but everything adds up.

What's the catch? You have to pay for your items with either a check (hello 1995) or PayPal, which many people don't use (me).

Upside

This is one I recently read about that will save you money at the pump. Once again, just like Rakutan, a percentage of what you spend on fueling up goes right back into your pocket.

Depending on how much you drive and what kind of vehicle you drive (like a mega truck), this little bit back can really add up.

Rocket Money

This one was HUGE for me. I do this thing my husband loves: if I see a television show or movie I really want to watch, I'll sign up for the free week of streaming, binge the show, and cancel the subscription before I'm charged. Except I always forget to cancel and get hit with a charge anywhere from ten bucks to forty. Ouch.

The Rocket Money app keeps track of everything you subscribe to and spend money on so you can stay on top of random charges.
