When it comes to phones, there can be certain times and places where being on your phone is just plain rude. Sometimes you just have to take an important call. However, if you are in a situation where you are going to be disruptive, it is best to excuse yourself from the group and do what you need to do.

In this day and age, your cell phone is an extension of you. I know, I know, you don't like it. Neither do it. But let's face the facts. Pretty much everything you need is on your phone. Email, banking information, all of your contacts, files, and more. The best parts of technology can also be a big problem.

Colorado residents say that the biggest pet peeve when it comes to cell phone usage is when a person they are talking with face to face, checks their phones. I will admit to doing this and I have had it done to me. I don't take it personally, it's just a part of life in 2024.

I once knew someone who was so attached to their phone, that they would unlock the screen and swipe back and forth on their home screens without going to any apps, or checking anything. I feel like they have the constant urge to be on their phone at all times. In reality, with all of the information at your fingertips at any given moment, you can easily see how an electronic device such as an iPhone can be considered addicting.

The Biggest Smartphone Pet Peeve of All

Colorado's biggest pet peeve of someone checking their phone while in a face-to-face conversation is the third most annoying action someone can do on the list. The first two complaints when it comes to smartphones are two that I can stand firmly behind.

  • Playing music or videos without headphones in public
  • Talking on speakerphone while in public

Talking on speakerphone while in public is the most annoying thing someone can do according to Gameland.gg and I agree. There was once a time where a woman was talking on her phone with the speaker on full volume in the grocery store. We were looking at cheese options and the person she was on the phone with asked her a question. I did what any sarcastic person would do in that situation and answered the question. Of course, I got a glare from her. However, she then took her phone off of speaker. I feel like I did a great service to the customers of a Northern Colorado King Soopers that day.
