Father's Day is June 18th this year, which isn't that far away. As with birthdays and Christmas, it's always best to get your gifts as early as you can to avoid missing out on giving the gift you really wanted to give. Now is the time to start thinking about what you want to get for your dad for Father's Day this year. Luckily, I think I might have stumbled upon the perfect gift for just about every dad in Colorado.

As a father myself, I feel like I can speak for most other dads when I say that the one gift we want more than anything else in the world on Father's Day is quite simple, and won't even cost you an arm and a leg. In all honesty, most fathers only want one thing, really: please, just leave us alone.

Now, you might hear that and think that I'm joking, but I'm not. Most dads in Colorado, and around the world if we're being honest, would sincerely love to have one day every year where they don't have to deal with any of their kids' nonsense. If you're a mom, you might recognize this feeling, which I why I also recommend leaving moms alone on Mother's Day, but since that's already in the books we're talking about dads right now.

It doesn't matter what kind of dad we're talking about, either. Stay-at-home dads are just as tired of their kids as working dads, and that's because children are tiring. Look, we get it: you're young, figuring things out for the first time, and you have endless energy. Unfortunately, your dad is old, has seen too much, and is constantly fighting the urge to go to sleep every hour of every day. I love my son, but real life is hard, and kids make it harder.

If you really want to give your dad a gift he'll appreciate, change things up and make things easier for a day. Just one day; that's all you have to do. You don't even have to do your chores, because when you leave dad alone, he won't be paying any attention to you. He'll be too busy thinking up ways to catch up on all the hobbies that he used to have before you came along, ultimately tiring himself out and opting to catch up on sleep instead.

Everybody needs some alone time every now and then, and parents need it more than anyone else. So, if you want to be your dad's favorite kid on Father's Day, send him a text and then leave him alone. I guarantee you'll be hearing about how great it was at every family gathering for the rest of your life.

You can also send money. Everybody likes money.
