Nucla, Colorado Resident Wins Inaugural Hometown Heroes Award
Tonya Stephens, of Nucla, was the winner of the Hometown Heroes Award, presented by 1776 Contractors in Delta and Montrose, for the month of April.
The Hometown Heroes contest was started by 1776 Contractors and Townsquare Media to honor local unsung heroes for worthy acts of kindness they’ve performed in their respective communities.
Stephens is a 22-year Nucla resident and is an active volunteer for the EMS service on the West End of Montrose County. Additionally, she is the Director of Hoof & Paw Animal Shelter in Nucla. Stephens is known for having a strong work ethic and a places great importance on serving her small community.
One nominee for the Hometown Heroes contest will be chosen each month; each winner will receive a prize for their efforts and acts of kindness. To learn more about Hometown Heroes, and to nominate someone you feel is deserving, Hometown Heroes Contest.
