Spring in We're finally entering into the final weeks of winter. That is unless you live in Colorado, where snow remains a reasonable possibility until well into the month of April. Honestly, our weather just has no respect for calendars...

With better weather on the horizon, it's time to get your mind around the idea of spring cleaning, our least-favorite annual tradition. This year, experts are making a point of warning us to keep an eye out for a specific type of filth that likes to come around when the weather gets warm: mold.

According to those aforementioned experts, per a report from 11 News in Colorado Springs, the change from winter to spring is a prime time for the growth of mold, and they recommend being proactive to prevent development and spread. On average, you're looking at anywhere from fifteen hundred to ten-thousand dollars to get bad mold damage dealt with professionally, so there might be something to that 'prevention' idea if you're looking to save money.

If prevention is your goal, being proactive can be as simple as airing out your home every once in a while, which I think we can all agree should be a regular occurrence, anyway. Additional steps include watching out for excess moisture collected in your A/C unit and just generally keeping water and moisture from collecting anywhere for too long. You'd be surprised how many people need to be told that.

As we gear up for spring cleaning, keep an eye out for any mold deposits in your home. Save yourself the hassle, and more importantly, the money, with just a little more care during the change of seasons. Your wallet will thank you, as will your kids when they grow up still being able to breathe.
